Why I Blog

I can’t promise that this blog will be about one topic. My purpose is to accomplish two things: First, I want to provide an interesting read for anyone interested in culture, health, and food. Secondly, I am using this blog to provide myself some research that I can access later. It is an interactive diary of my interests and I hope to use this as a research tool because I forget easily. I am also excited to read ideas from other readers on subjects that I know nothing about.
I am an amateur gardener and I really mean amateur. I am a Hispanic New Mexican and enjoy the history of my ancestry and the food and other practical home and lifestyle ways that go along with it. Most of this blog will include accounts of this specific culture. Since I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Community Health, I will be focusing on my research ideas. Right now, my idea is to research the health benefits of community gardening in a low-income neighborhood.
My blog title is something very personal too me. Since a large focus of this blog will be about food, I title this blog with some basic foods that have showed up in many family meals as long as I can remember. When all else fails, I revert back to beans and rice and Jesus Christ. I do practice religion and feel that sometimes when life throws punches, I know that I always have this. Plus, it has a nice ring to it.
My hope is that I attract an audience to this blog. I am learning about blog functions which are seriously baffling. HTML?! Go Figure! I am definitely open to suggestions. Please take the time to enjoy.
